The story behind LDSPS

The Story of Our Journey

The Local Development and Small Business Support Office (LDSPS) was established in 2013 as an extension of the Local Coordination Committees (LCC) to support local structures in areas outside the control of the Syrian regime.
Guided by its vision, LDSPS set a goal to empower local communities within these areas and, eventually, across all of Syria.

Toward a more empowered and democratic local communities

Our Mission - LDSPS

The Local Development and Small Business Support Office (LDSPS) is a democratic coalition of active individuals in civil society work, operating based on the following vision:

Spreading the principles of citizenship and democracy at the local community level is a crucial step toward achieving stability and establishing a sustainable democratic system in Syria—one that represents the interests and aspirations of all Syrians for freedom and dignity.

To achieve this, it is essential to support and strengthen local civil society and civilian administrations within Syria. This requires empowering Syrian non-governmental organizations to implement this vision based on principles of inclusivity, participation, and the rejection of discrimination based on gender, ethnicity, religion, social class, or belief.

About us - LDSPS

Empowering sustainable local governance structures and civil society initiatives to serve, advocate for, and represent all members of the local community.

The organization helps communities identify their needs, set priorities, and choose appropriate ways to address them while adapting to changing circumstances. Through this process, it fosters a sense of responsibility within communities and enhances their participation in Syria’s development.

Our Vision - LDSPS

Strengthening democratic citizenship at the local community level is key to achieving stability and sustainable democracy. Syria’s future can be secured by enhancing the role of local civil society. Syrian non-governmental organizations must be empowered to realize this vision.
